How to Install Webmin Webmin Hosting Control Panel

Installing Webmin

"Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more. Webmin removes the need to manually edit Unix configuration files like /etc/passwd, and lets you manage a system from the console or remotely."

This tutorial shows how to install the Webmin hosting control panel on your VPS/Dedicated Server.

Download a copy

First download a copy of webmin in RPM form. This can be attained at http://www.webmin.com

Upload Webmin to your server

login to your provided server control and upload the Webmin rpm to the /usr/ directory of your server. Alternativley you can login through SSH and download the Webmin rpm directly to your server with the following code:
cd /usr
wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin-1.441-1.noarch.rpm
(url of download may change, this url was tested 10/11/2008)

Install the Webmin RPM

Login via SSH and enter the following code: cd /usr
rpm -U webmin-1.441-1.noarch.rpm

Follow instructions

Webmin install will guide you throgh the next few steps

Login

Finaly login to Webmin via your ip and the default port of 10000 example: http://100.100.100.100:10000/ (100.100.100.100 is the IP allocated by your server provider and 10000 is the default port Webmin installs to)
