Why Banner Ads
The decision to research banner ads started after initiating an Adsense campaign on Sakui Web. With only small amounts of money dribbling in It was clear the adsense service was not suited for Sakui Web. After a quick search for a more suited Banner Ad service I found numerous services available. Whilst testing one of these services, a free banner ad service (Spottt) was suggested to increase traffic on Adbrite banners. This was the first I had thought about using a banner ad to advertise. As it was free there was no reason not to try it out, this led to me testing all the above banner ad services.
Banner Ad Services for Advertisers
- Project Wonderful 8/10 Project Wonderful is one of few online advertising services that offer cost per day instead of by impression or click, this brings fairness and eliminates fraud from the equation.
- Performancing Ads 7/10 Similar to Project Wonderful with cost per week instead of day however it lacks a publisher approval system (anyone can register to be a publisher in seconds) which in turn had rendered a large proportion of their index spam.
- Adbrite 6/10 This service would be most appropriate for any large, corporate business looking to advertise on top class publishers at a fair price.
- Spottt 5/10 Spottt is great for anyone with a real small budget as it's free! (you give 100 impressions and you get 80).
- Adwords 4/10 Same as before does the job at a high cost, one nice feature is you can select not to show your ads on user sites and only through google search which reduces click fraud.
- UK Buttons 2/10 Index full of junk, perhaps good for new dating sites.
Banner Ad Services for Publishers
- Project Wonderful 9/10 Simply the best money maker due to two factors, 1. Pay per day means your web space can be more appropriately priced. 2. a strong search facility, the search on project wonderful means any site can be found not just the top ten.
- Adbrite 8/10 This service offers a fair income, an advertise here link and a nice tool that enables adbrite to be switched for adsense (or other cpm/cpc banners) whilst they are unable to provide you with ads above a specified value.
- Performancing Ads 7/10 One again has the same benefits as Project wonderful with a set price however it lack the search power due to junk sites in their index and a poor search tool.
- Adsense 5/10 A slow money earner.
- Text Link Ads 4/10 no leads whilst testing and api Errors led to an early withdrawal.
